First Place for Youth is giving young people transitioning out of foster care a place to call home while they build their futures.
"We know that having a safe place to call home is a stabilizing factor that enables youth to focus on their education and employment goals, build community, and establish a foundation for long-term success in adulthood.” – Emily Jensen, Chief Impact and People Officer, First Place for Youth
Faced with navigating adulthood without the consistent support of family, former foster children too often fall prey to homelessness, unemployment, and poverty. First Place for Youth breaks that cycle by creating a bridge to adulthood that provides housing, education and employment services.
By starting with stable safe housing, First Place for Youth insures that youth have the all-important foundational element on which they can build their successful transition to self-sufficiency and responsible adulthood.
As one client put it, "Being part of First Place for Youth, you don't feel like the world is out to get you; you feel like you are out to get the world".
Episcopal Impact Fund’s grant enables First Place for Youth to provide supportive housing and wrap-around services for youth transitioning out of foster care so they get the support they need.
